ABOUT THE DEVELOPMENTAL EDUCATION CLASSES
Strategies for Learning English Through Reading and Strategies for Learning English through Grammar and Writing are designed to help high intermediate English-as-a-second language (ESL) students with academic intent to:
- Build reading skills in the areas of comprehension and vocabulary
- Improve listening and speaking skills with material that is coordinated with reading content
- Improve grammar through editing
- Develop writing skills at the sentence and paragraph level with material that is linked to reading content
- Build academic skills to prepare for the English Block classes (ENGL 071/072/073/074) or other college classes
Developmental Education Classes:
- Meet daily Monday through Friday
- Day classes
- Earn college credit
Students must pay college tuition and buy books and materials.
Financial aid available for students who qualify.
Requirements:
- Placement by the College English Assessment Test
- Enrollment in the Reading Lab for one or two credits
