- Why Bellevue Community College Baseball Camps?

Several reasons: our coaches, our reputation and tradition, our facilities, and our location.  Our coaching staff that directs one of the most successful college programs in the Pacific Northwest directs youth instruction with the same attentive detail as they do with the collegiate players...the same coaches who have led a program to a winning season for the past 30 years...the same coaches who led Bellevue to the conference championship title in '07.  Head Coach Mark Yoshino does not simply make an appearance at each camp; he runs them and provides as much passion with his instruction at camps as he does for his players.  Very rarely do you see the head coach of a longtime successful program make daily appearances in addition to working one-on-one with the aspiring young players at sport camps. At Bellevue, the head coach is not only there, but he also provides instruction as if each player were his own.  The assistant coaches who run an assortment of the specialty spring camps are the same coaches who direct the top 18-under summer teams in the area.  High energy coaches providing high levels of instruction.  We encourage you to speak with ANYONE who has attended our camps in the past to verify this commitment.  It is our attempt to offer the best combination of instruction and fun in a quality environment.  Our facilities and location are ideal for the entire eastside community.  A large indoor fieldhouse (spring camps) and one of the top outdoor fields in the state (summer camps) are luxuries that are second to none.  Our offerings have benefited thousands of young ball players for the past twenty five years, as BCC’s baseball camps have served the eastside community longer than any other organization.  Please take time to look through our offerings below and feel free to call if you have any questions.

BREAKDOWN OF SPECIFIC SPRING TRAINING CAMPS

SPRING TRAINING CAMPS—Hitting
These have always been the most popular…register well in advance since all hitting sessions reach their maximum capacity early! Beginning players and those who simply need a tune up instruction review and a high volume of swings to get out of "basketball" and into "baseball" mode are the ones who are encouraged to register. We offer four batting cages and all the necessities you'll need in our 32,000 square-foot indoor heated athletic fieldhouse! Concepts that will be emphasized include: balance, staying inside the ball, true arc of the swing, vision.

SPRING TRAINING CAMPS—Pitching
Our pitching camps are designed to simplify mechanics for better understanding by the player, coach, and parent. CURRENT information on the aspects of pitching which will not only be of value from a safety standpoint, but a skill level perspective as well. The pitching camps have always been equally as valuable for coaches/parents as evidenced by our number of previous enrollees who were coaches without players at the camp!

SPRING TRAINING CAMPS— Fielding
Defensive skill camps have been the sessions where greatest skill development occurs, since ball players don't seem to practice "d" anymore. The clinic will take you from beginning fundamentals to high skill level techniques in a span of one session! We are one of the few defense-only camps that exist at this time of the year…take full advantage! The camp will devote an even amount of time between infield and outfield skills.

SPRING TRAINING CAMPS— Catching
Being the toughest skill and because of it being a high-profile position, the catching camp is one of our most valuable offerings.   We will lead instruction for those who are either just learning the position or have a few years of experience under their belt.  All areas of the position will be covered.  Catchers who enroll in this camp must bring their own catcher’s equipment.

SUMMER CAMPS
- now registering...all sessions filled in last summer!

SUMMER CAMPS—Junior and Senior
Hitting, fielding, baserunning, and throwing will be covered. Base stealing, bunting (sac, drag, push), and hit and run will also be introduced for those moving up to the "big" diamond next year (senior). Limited pitching instruction - for those who truly want pitching instruction in detail, refer to the camps below. Our summer camps emphasize four things: fun, lots of instruction, lots of prizes, and a great facility. Players receive numerous baseball memorabilia goods and have opportunities to win items such as bats, gloves, and Mariner prizes.

NEW FOR '09-All Day Junior Camp
This camp will be offered the week of August 17-20. This camp was added because of requests to have an option that better accommodates parents' work schedules. Although there will be more hours in this camp, the final day for this session will be Thursday August 20, since the 4-day work week is growing in popularity.

SUMMER CAMPS—Hitting and Pitching Intensive
This camp gives the best of both worlds: intense instruction and games! The instruction is advanced for those who have been to numerous camps in the past and are looking for more. At this camp, we will address key issues to assist older pitchers learn how to adapt to the larger diamond at the Pony / Sandy Koufax levels of play. These camps are for serious ball players who most importantly, don't want the baseball season to end in late August! If your son can't get enough of baseball in the month of August, then this one's for you! Players here want high-level instruction, drills, and practice methods for year-round development in two main areas: pitching and hitting. There is no fielding covered at this camp. The games feature live pitchers, and a world series.
