HEADLINES Both the men’s and women’s teams finished their seasons ranked in the final NWAACC Polls with the men 4th and the women 8th. Congratulations to both Lee and Oliveira for such great seasons! MEN’S SOCCER SEASON ENDS IN A SHUTOUT The Bulldogs were led this year in scoring by Vini Oliveira who finished 2nd in the NWAACC in scoring with 25 goals and 7 assists on the season. Jeremy Baarsma (3.38 gpa) made the All-Academic Sports Team for Men’s Soccer this season. Congratulations to all of the Men’s Soccer team student-athletes and their coaching staff for an outstanding season! MEN’S SOCCER TO HOST FIRST ROUND GAME! This past week the Bulldogs traveled to Edmonds CC (6-11-1) on November 5th and came away with a 2-1 victory behind the two goals from Vini Oliveira and two assists from Hailu Gebrekidan. November 8th saw the Bulldogs host Shoreline CC (6-8-4) in their final regular season game. The Bulldogs ended the season on a strong note posting a 4-1 victory over the Dolphins with one goal coming from four different players, Gilberto Robayo, Bryce Coffin, Josh Guerreo, and Matt Eronemo. We wish our men’s soccer team the best of luck in the Playoffs!
Both games were hard-fought physical battles that saw the Bulldogs feeling high and low by week’s end. Against Highline, the Bulldogs jumped out early scoring on Matt Eronemo’s goal in the second minute then found themselves down 2-1 with just eight minutes to go. BCC’s Diego Robayo scored in the 82nd minute, and was then followed by Vini Oliveira’s goal in the 86th minute to finish off with a 3-2 victory. The Whatcom game saw the Orcas score in the 13th minute and then play stingy defense to keep the Bulldogs out of the net the entire game, finally handing the Bulldogs a heartbreaking 1-0 loss. This week the Bulldogs travel to Edmonds to take on the Edmonds Tritons (6-9-1) November 5th at 7:30pm. For the regular season ending match, BCC hosts the Shoreline Dolphins (6-6-4) this Saturday November 8th at the BCC Soccer Field at 2:00pm. MEN’S SOCCER LOSES FIRST GAME OF SEASON! This week the Bulldogs have a tough test as they will be taking on the first place team from the West Division. The Bulldogs will host Highline (12-0-3) this Wednesday October 29th at the BCC Soccer Field at 4:00pm. The Bulldogs will then travel to Bellingham to take on the Whatcom Orcas (7-3-4) on November 1st at 2:00pm. MEN’S SOCCER WINS AGAIN! The Bulldogs had a tough time in their win over the Everett Trojans (3-9-2) October 18th as the Trojans used a tough defense to keep the Bulldogs in check. It wasn’t until the 55th minute that Josh Guerrero was able to put one in the back of the net to give the Bulldogs the one and only goal of the game. Kevin Springer recorded BCC’s fifth shutout of the season, keeping us unbeaten (11-0-2) and locked in a first place tie with Highline CC in the West Division. This week the Bulldogs travel to Port Angeles to take on the Peninsula Pirates (6-3-3) October 22 at 4:00pm. MEN’S SOCCER KEEPS ROLLING ALONG! This week the Bulldogs host the Everett Trojans (3-7-2) October 18th at 2:00pm on the BCC soccer field. MEN’S SOCCER REMAINS UNDEFEATED! MEN’S SOCCER REMAINS UNDEFEATED! 2008 TRYOUT AND PHYSICAL DATES ANNOUNCED Physicals for all players must be completed after July 1 but prior to the first day of tryouts. Athletes without a completed physical may not tryout or practice. Student-athletes must also fill out the first year or second year paperwork before the first day of tryouts as well. Athletes with incomplete paperwork will not be allowed to participate in tryouts or practices. All eligibility paperwork is available in the Athletics Office on the BCC Campus (Office G100). BCC is looking to build upon a 2007 season which saw the Bulldogs compile a 9-5-3 record and advance to the NWAACC Playoffs. Bellevue Community College Bulldogs soccer has enjoyed many successful years in the community college soccer
scene. One of the oldest traditions around, BCC men's soccer has
just completed its 31st year participating in intercollegiate athletics.
Over this time, BCC soccer has been crowned champions of the league
an amazing nine times and taken the runner-up spot nine times as
well, including in 2006. Out of 31 potential "championship years," BCC soccer
has had a shot at the title 18 times. |
