VOLLEYBALL FINISHES IN TOP SIX AT NWAACC TOURNAMENT
November 26, 2008

The Bulldogs ended their season at the NWAACC Tournament the weekend of November 20-22 by winning their first two tournament matches against Treasure Valley 3-0 and Tacoma 3-0, but then fell to eventual champions Chemeketa 3-0 (50-0 record this season) in the semifinals. The Bulldogs then lost their consolation match to Clackamas 2-1. The women’s volleyball team finished 5th in the final NWAACC Polls.

Congratulations to the women’s volleyball team and their coaches for a great season both on and off the court.

VOLLEYBALL HEADS TO NWAACC CHAMPIONSHIPS!
November 17, 2008
The Bulldogs ended their regular season with a bang defeating both Edmonds CC (10-0) and Whatcom CC (9-2) on the road to claim sole possession of 2nd place in the North Division going into the NWAACC Tournament this weekend at Mt. Hood from November 20-22.

Coach Kim Werkau has the Bulldogs playing their best volleyball of the season at the right time and hopefully it will pay off for them in the tournament.

The Bulldogs also claimed a number of all-league honors as the regular season has come to an end. Werkau was voted as Co-Coach of the Year, freshman outside hitter Savannah Feist and freshman libero Patti Reeves were voted first team All-North Region.  Sophomore setter Juleea Perez was voted to the second team North Region. Reeves was also named the NWAACC Defensive Player of the Week for the week of November 11.

This week the Bulldogs travel to Mt. Hood for the NWAACC Championships November 20-22.

VOLLEYBALL SWEEPS FIRST PLACE TEAM!
November 11, 2008

The Bulldogs won both North Division matches last week and ended the week November 7 at Edmonds CC facing the (10-0) Tritons, sweeping them in three games (25-15, 27-25, 25-20). November 5 the Bulldogs had their final home match of the season , defeating the Trojans of Everett CC (2-9) (25-10, 25-11, 25-16).

With both of the wins last week the Bulldogs are currently (9-2), tied with Whatcom for second in the North Division and only one game behind Edmonds for first in the division.  The Bulldogs have already qualified for the NWAACC Tournament November 20-22 at Mt Hood CC. Also, Savannah Feist was named the North Division Player of the Week for the 4th time this season for her play the week of October 27-31. The BCC volleyball team is ranked #6 in the most recent NWAACC Polls.

This week the Bulldogs travel to Bellingham November 12 to end their regular season with a huge match-up with the Whatcom Orcas (9-2) in what will most likely be the deciding game for second and third in the North Division.

VOLLEYBALL TAKES SECOND AGAIN!
November 4, 2008

The only league match of the week was a home sweep for the Bulldogs (7-2) as they took care of the Shoreline Dolphins 3-0 to remain in third place in the North Division and only a half game out of second and two games out of first. The Bulldogs were led in this match by the 14 kills of Kady Bieber, 30 assists from Juleea Perez and 13 digs from Patti Reeves.

The Bulldogs then took their Halloween costumes with them on the road October 31st and November 1st to the Mt. Hood Tournament and not only won the team costume contest, but also finished second in the tournament. Their only two losses on the weekend coming to tournament champions Chemeketa Storm (42-0).

This week the Bulldogs host the Everett Trojans (2-8) in the team’s final home contest of the year November 5th at BCC Gymnasium at 7:00pm. They will travel to Edmonds to take on the North Division leaders the Tritons (9-0) November 7th at 7:00pm.

VOLLEYBALL WINS ITS ONLY MATCH OF THE WEEK!
October 27, 2008

The trip to Mount Vernon on October 24 turned out to be a good one for the Bulldogs (6-2) as they beat the Skagit Valley Cardinals (3-5) (25-22, 16-25, 25-15, 25-18) to help them keep pace atop the North Division with Edmonds CC (9-0) and Whatcom CC (7-2). The Bulldogs were led by the 25 kills from Savannah Feist, 40 assists from Juleea Perez and 21 digs from Patti Reeves.

This week the Bulldogs host the Shoreline Dolphins (2-6) October 29th at the BCC Gymnasium at 7:00pm and will travel to Mt Hood, OR for a tournament on October 31 and November 1.

VOLLEYBALL SPLITS FOR THE WEEK!
October 21, 2008

It was a match up of two 4-1 teams that decided who would keep pace with Edmonds for first place. The Bulldogs jumped out and showed the Orcas that they meant business in game one winning 25-20, but then the Orcas used their size advantage at the net, winning the next three straight games to take the match 3-1. The loss put the Bulldogs (4-2) into third place in the North Division.

The Bulldogs (4-2) took out their frustrations of Monday’s loss on the Olympic Rangers October 15 by sweeping them at Olympic 3-0. This match was a great opportunity for the Bulldogs to get back on the winning track as well as get all 11 players playing time.

The weekend gave the Bulldogs a chance to travel to Salem, Oregon, to participate in the Chemeketa Crossover Tournament. This was an opportunity for the Bulldogs to work out some of the kinks before returning to league play. BCC advanced all the way to the Championship match against host Chemeketa CC (35-0), but eventually lost (26-28, 19-25, 22-25. The Bulldogs landed three players on the All-Tournament team Savannah Feist, Patti Reeves, and Megan Robinson.

The Bulldogs travel to Mount Vernon to take on the Skagit Valley Cardinals October 24th at 7:00pm in another North Division battle.

VOLLEYBALL SWEEPS PLAYER HONORS!
October 13, 2008

North Division Players of the Week awards all went to the Bulldogs. Offensive Player of the Week is Savannah Feist (voted Player of the Week three times in five weeks). Defensive Player of the Week is Patti Reeves and the Setter of the Week (voted on only twice a season) is Juleea Perez.

The Bulldogs (4-1) dropped their first division match to Edmonds CC (5-0) on October 8th (19-25, 19-25, 23-25) to fall to second place, one game behind the Tritons. The Bulldogs played well throughout most of the match, but down the stretch of all three games, Edmonds’ sophomore leadership was too much for the young and growing Bulldogs.

Cheer on the Bulldogs as they host the Whatcom Orcas, Monday October 13th at 7:00pm in the BCC Gymnasium.

Freshman Megan Robinson

VOLLEYBALL SWEEPS FIRST DIVISION MATCH!
September 30, 2008

The Bulldogs jumped on the Rangers early and never let up. Behind the 21 kills and seven aces of Savannah Feist and the 30 assists of Juleea Perez, the Bulldogs swept the Rangers to open up their North Division League schedule.

With the sweep of the Rangers,
BCC outside hitter Savannah Feist was named North Division Player of the Week. Feist was also the NWAACC Player of the Week in week one of the season. “Savannah continues to be a powerhouse for the BCC team. She was completely unstoppable in the Olympic game, hitting an amazing .625 (32 attempts and 1 error). She made great decisions with the shots that she made, varying them based on the defense. She also stepped up her serving, aggressively achieving 7 aces,” says Kim Werkau, BCC Volleyball Coach.

This week the Bulldogs
play host to the Cardinals of Skagit Valley College on Wednesday, October 1 at 7:00pm in the BCC Gymnasium. On Friday, October 3, they travel to Shoreline to take on the Dolphins at 7:00pm.

Sophomore Kady Bieber

VOLLEYBALL SPLITS IN ITS OWN TOURNAMENT!
September 23, 2008

Bulldogs lose another close match on September 15 at Pierce College  (9-6) in five games. The Bulldogs (7-10) again looked good early jumping out two games to none, but then dropped the next three to lose the match. This has been the story of their season so far they play well early and then struggle to finish teams off. Coach Werkau definitely feels that as the season goes on the team (three sophomores & eight freshmen) will bond together more and become a much stronger force to deal with.

Bulldogs hosted a tournament September 19 & 20 at the BCC Gymnasium with three of the four division leading teams in the field. BCC ended up splitting their six matches with wins over Columbia Basin, Highline and Linn-Benton and loses to Chemeketa, Clark and Spokane. Chemeketa came into the tournament 26-0 on the season and finish the  tournament going 6-0.

This week will be the start of the North Division league schedule for the Bulldogs as they will host Olympic College on Wednesday, September 24 at 7:00pm in the BCC Gymnasium.
