Kim Werkau
HEAD COACH

werkau

This is Kim's 3rd year at the helm of the Bulldog Volleyball team.  After finishing 3rd in the league in 2006, and 2nd in 2007 qualifying for the Championship tourney both years,  Kim is excited to improve upon her season in 2008 with an extremely strong recruiting class and key returning sophomores.

Kim spent the 2004-2005 seasons as head coach at Kent-Meridian High School; 2003 assisting at Evergreen High School, and 2002 assisting at Sumner High School.  Since 2000, Kim has coached at various volleyball and basketball camps in the Sumer and Ellensburg areas.  From 2002 to present, Kim has coached several club volleyball teams in the Sumner and Bellevue area, and continues to work camps and clinics.  Kim coached the Northwest Juniors U17 team in 2005 and 2006.  In 2005 she led them to a 4th place finish in the Puget Sound Region Championships.   She coached the Northwest Juniors U18 team in 2007 and 2008, and in 2008 she led them to a 5th place finish in the Puget Sound Region Championships.  She is also Northwest Volleyball's Adult Program Director and Assistant Club Director for Northwest Volleyball.

Kim grew up in Sumner, WA near Lake Tapps.  Kim is a 2002 graduate of Central Washington University with a major in Public Relations and Business Administration.  She played volleyball at CWU from 1998-2002 as a middle blocker, where she still holds several records including attack percentage, total blocks, and blocks per game.  The Wildcats finished 3rd in 1999, 2nd in 2000, and 2nd her senior year in 2001 improving on a last place finish in 1998 in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC).  Kim won the Most Improved award her sophomore year (1999) and was a Team Captain in 2000 and 2001.

Prior to CWU, Kim attended Sumner High School, where she played volleyball and basketball and ran track. She qualified for the state tournament in track for the high jump and the 300 meter hurdles in 1996.   Her 1996 basketball team took first in the South Puget Sound League (SPSL) and qualified for state for the first time in the school's history.  Kim’s 1997 volleyball team also qualified for state for the first time in the school's history and the team placed sixth in state the following year (1998).

Werkau on the 2008 team:
“I am extremely excited for the 2008 team.  Everyone has worked extremely hard in the preseason, and has common goals.  Their common goals keep them supporting each other unconditionally, and that is something that not many teams can say.  We have great leadership coming from our captains, setter Juleea Perez, DS Amanda Frost, and freshman libero Patti Reeves, who I anticipate will be the dig leader in the northern region.  Add to that leadership is sophomore OH Kady Bieber who improves daily, is extremely driven, and will contribute a great deal to the 2008 squad.  Key recruits include Kentwood graduate Savannah Feist who is consistently hitting above .500% - amazing.  Freshman MB/OH Megan Robinson is extremely talented in many positions, and will do an excellent job wherever she plays.  Right side Danielle Rehm hits hard and hits smart.  She is working on hitting different attacks and moving around the court to different places.  It is exciting to watch Danielle grow as an attacker.  The 2008 season looks to be an exciting one, and we will be battling for our Region’s title as well as the NWAACC title.

Lindsey Palmer
ASSISTANT COACH

Lindsey is in her first season with the Bulldogs.  In her high school career in Alaska, Lindsey was a successful middle blocker and right side.  She continued playing on a competitive club volleyball team during her college years at University of Wyoming.   Lindsey's began as an assistant coach to her high school coach in Alaska.  She also coaches club ball locally in the months of November through June.

Lindsey’s duties at BCC will include working primarily with the middle blockers and general blocking techniques.  She adds a great perspective to the position and the skill, and will be able to help the middles grasp the position and everyone understand the skill better than before.

Amanda Crank

Amanda Crank
ASSISTANT COACH

Amanda Crank enters her first year as a coach for the BCC Volleyball team after two seasons as a player for the Bulldogs. Crank was key player in 2006 and the starting libero in her sophomore year at BCC, leading the team in digs and garnering several NWAACC player of the week honors as well as 2nd team honors finishing her playing career.

Crank’s duties at BCC will focus greatly on the defensive specialist and liberos, where her position was from over seven years.  She does, however, have a great overall understanding of the game, and will contribute greatly to all other positions, adding a strong “libero perspective” for the team.

Prior to BCC, Crank attended Issaquah High School where she was the starting libero 2003 through 2005.  Crank was awarded the second team all Kingco all three years at Issaquah, and the team placed 3rd in state her senior year (2005) aided by Cranks 13,000 + career digs.  Crank began playing club ball in 2001 where she was a team captain on every single team from that point until her last club year in 2006.  She won several awards including Best Defensive Player in both 2005 and 2006.

Crank has coached club ball since 2005.  She has worked with U14, U15, and U18 age groups; often all in the same season demonstrating Cranks dedication.  In 2008, her U15 team qualified for the National tournament in Dallas, finishing 55th overall in the USA.
