WOMEN’S SOCCER SEASON COMES The Bulldogs were led this year in scoring by Krista Niklason who finished 12th in the NWAACC in scoring with 13 goals and 3 assists on the season. Both Megan Dalgleish (3.38 gpa) and Jena Hickel (3.96 gpa) both made the All-Academic Sports Team for Women’s Soccer this season. Congratulations to all of the Women’s Soccer team student-athletes and their coaching staff for an outstanding season! WOMEN’S SOCCER WINS THE WEST! This past week the Bulldogs traveled to Edmonds CC (9-9-2) November 5 and came away with a 2-0 victory behind the goal keeping of Kristina Myles (8th shutout of season) and one goal each from Jannely Quintana and Molline Boddy. November 8 saw the Bulldogs host the North Division leaders Shoreline CC (17-1-2) in their final regular season game. The game was a back and forth defensive matchup until the 72nd minute when Shoreline was able to put one in the back of the Bulldogs’ net, then held on to hand the Bulldogs a tough 1-0 defeat. We wish our women’s soccer team the best of luck in the Playoffs! WOMEN’S SOCCER STAYS ON TOP! November 1st in Bellingham was a different story. The Whatcom Orcas scored in the 17th and 35th minutes to seal a 2-0 victory over the Bulldogs, sending them home to prepare for the final week of regular season play. This week the Bulldogs travel to Edmonds to take on the Edmonds Tritons (8-9-1) November 5th at 5:30pm and will host the undefeated North Division leading Shoreline Dolphins (17-0-1) November 8th at BCC Soccer Field at 12:00pm to end regular season play. WOMEN’S SOCCER KEEPS ON ROLLING! This week the Bulldogs host Highline (8-4-5) on Wednesday October 29th at the BCC Soccer Field at 2:00pm and will travel to Bellingham to take on Whatcom (11-4-1) November 1st at 12:00pm. WOMEN’S SOCCER GOES 2-0 FOR THE WEEK! The women’s soccer team continued its winning ways by beating Green River CC and Everett CC last week. The Green River game was a nail biter until the 76th minute when Jannely Quitana scored her first goal of the season for the Bulldogs to make it a 1-0 score that ended up holding up as the final score. The Bulldogs go their fifth shutout of the season behind the strong goalkeeping play of Kristina Myles. Everett came to BCC on October 18th and the Bulldogs got four goals from four different players in route to their 4-1 win. Daniela Gonzalez, Molline Boddy, Betsi Darling and Krista Niklason all scored before Everett was able to get their one goal of the game. This win put the Bulldogs at 10-2-3 on the season and in sole possession of first place in the West Division. The Bulldogs travel to Longview to take on the Lower Columbia Red Devils (1-13-0) October 22 at 4:00pm. WOMEN’S SOCCER HAS TOUGH WEEK! On October 8th, the Bulldogs got a goal from Krista Niklason to tie Tacoma (6-3-4) who are chasing them in the West Division. On October 11th, the trip to Mount Vernon was a long one as the Bulldogs dropped a heartbreaker 2-1 to Skagit Valley (5-4-3) with the lone Bulldog goal coming from Niklason (10 goals and 3 assists on the season). This week the Bulldogs travel to Auburn on October 15th to take on the Green River Gators (3-9-1) at 2:00pm, and October 18th they host the Everett Trojans (1-11-1) at 12:00pm on the BCC soccer field.
WOMEN’S SOCCER SUFFERS FIRST DEFEAT! ABOUT BCC WOMEN'S SOCCER Bellevue Community College has secured an outstanding reputation within the Pacific Northwest and in the nation. Bellevue has an extremely high student transfer rate and the soccer program is designed to develop and improve players' levels of ability to allow them to continue to play in their junior and senior years in four-year colleges. Bellevue competes in the Northwest Athletics Association of Community Colleges that includes colleges from Washington, Oregon and Idaho. While the Puget Sound is a very strong soccer area, the program draws on talented players from the entire region. Coaches in the BCC program share a passion for the game and are especially focused to meet the individual needs of the players in the squad. Objectives include: continuation of player skills development, concentration on team play and communication, fostering fun and game enjoyment while maintaining a high competitive level and ensuring that the experience at BCC is something that will always be cherished and looked back upon with pride and distinction. Official preseason practice sessions begin in mid-August with the competitive season under way in early September and the play-offs in November.
