BELLEVUE SPLITS SERIES WITH WEST COAST BASEBALL ACADEMY
April 15, 2008

Kyle Decatur
Kyle Decatur went 3 for 3 with a double and a run scored in Bellevue's 3-1 lost to West Coast Baseball Academy of Canada on April 13.

The Bellevue CC Baseball team took a break from northern region play last weekend to take on the West Coast Baseball Academy out of Canada on a beautiful Saturday at Courter Field.

In game one, Bellevue went on a hitting parade, outslugging the visitors on their way to a 14-10 victory.  Bellevue recorded 16 hits, with 11 Bulldogs recording at least one hit.  Right fielder, Kyle Laukala led the way for the Bulldogs, going 3 for 4, with four runs scored, 3 runs batted in, and two doubles.  Will Campbell, Ryan Shelton, and Jonathon Leung all added doubles as well for the Bellevue.

BCC starter Ryan Davis threw 2 innings allowing 1 hit, 1 run, while striking out 1 batter.  Bellevue then sent 3 different pitchers to the mound to get some weekend work in.  Brad Reid continued to shine, not allowing any runs in two innings of work, while striking out 3 batters.  Kyle Pearson earned the victory in relief, throwing two and one third innings, giving up 3 runs, 1 run, while striking out 2 batters.

In game 2, the Bellevue bats were quieted in a 3-1 loss.  Kyle Decater was the lone offensive bright spot, as he led the Bulldogs going 3 for 3 with a double and a run scored.  Starting pitcher Stephen Foster threw 2 scoreless innings, allowing no hits and striking out 2.  Kaylor Hasbargen suffered the loss in relief, allowing one run in 2 innings of work.

Bellevue is now 18-9 overall, and 6-2 in league.  They are currently sitting in second place behind Edmonds Community College in the Northern Region.  Bellevue resumes regional play against third place Everett Community College (16-9, 7-3) next weekend.  Saturday’s game will be played at Bellevue’s Courter Field, and while Sunday will see the Bulldogs will travel to Everett’s Memorial Stadium. Both days are double-headers slated to start at 1:00pm.
