TRITONS STOP BULLDOGS 3-1
The sixth ranked BCC Baseball team had high hopes of climbing back into the Northern Region Championship race, but was unable to overcome second ranked Edmonds, falling to the Tritons 3-1 in a four game weekend series May 3 and 4. In game one, Edmonds rallied for five runs in the top of the sixth inning to take Bellevue 5-2. Bellevue’s starter Cody Goodfellow suffered the loss bringing his record to 5-2. He went all seven innings, allowing five earned runs on five walks and only two hits, one of those a grand slam. In game two the Bulldogs got back on track behind a stellar performance on the mound by sophomore Stephen Foster, winning 6-0. Bellevue scored one in the first and five in the third off of Edmonds starter Tyler Rogstad. In the bottom of the third, Bellevue recorded four hits, and got help from two Edmonds errors to score five of their six runs. Kyle Laukala, Kyle Decater, and Riley Tompkins each had run scoring singles. Foster threw seven shutout innings to pick up his third win of the season. He only allowed one hit while striking out seven batters. Chad Mautner and Brent Miller each pitched the eight and ninth innings respectively, each holding the Triton bats at bay. In game three, starting pitcher Brad Reid suffered his first loss of a season in tough 2-0 game. Reid threw six innings, giving up two runs, only one earned, while scattering eight hits and striking out three. With the loss, Reid is now 6-1. Bellevue’s bats were quieted in a three hit shut out by Edmonds starter Tyler Rice. Keegan Acker, Laukala, and Gio Learned had a hit a piece for the Bulldogs, but Bellevue was unable to come up with any runs. In the series finale, Edmonds took a three run lead in the first inning and never looked back en route to a 6-4 win. Starting pitcher Ryan Davis suffered the loss giving up five runs on nine hits through six innings of work. The loss brings Davis’ record to 3-3 on the season. Mautner threw a scoreless seventh inning and Miller gave up one run in the ninth. Laukala, Jason Moseby, and Hunter Beaty had two hits apiece for the Bulldogs, including a triple by Laukala. With the series loss Bellevue is now 12-8 in North Region play, and 24-16 overall remaining in third place. Edmonds remains in first place improving to 17-3 in Northern Region play and 31-6 overall.
