Three Bulldogs Sign Early During NCAA Signing Period
December 10 , 2007
Three players off Bellevue’s 2007 NWAACC Champion team have signed during the NCAA’s early signing period this past November. The three players accepting scholarships for next year early are: Will Campbell, who signed with the University of Kentucky, and Kyle Decater and Troy Burki, who both signed with New Mexico State University. Campbell, who is feared as one of the most dangerous power hitters in the region, is a returning first baseman who is excited to join one of top baseball programs in one of the toughest conferences (SEC) in the country next year. Decater, who flourished late last spring, was also a Tampa Bay Devil Rays draft in June. Burki, a left-handed pitcher who throws in the mid-80 mph range had a solid season in ’07 and was one of the top pitchers this fall for the Bulldogs. “We are very proud of these three players,” says Head Coach Mark Yoshino. “The three of them are reflections of what our program is all about; providing an opportunity at the next level. With 20 returners from last year’s team, expect to see a lot more players moving on as well,” he adds.
