Get Involved with Center for Career Connections
|
There are so many ways that you can be involved with BCC. You can choose the time commitment that works best for you,
and we appreciate your gift of time and expertise. You could offer an internship, provide a short-term job shadow/networking experience,
come as a guest speaker, or serve on one of our advisory boards. Please read below for more information on some of the many options available:
|

|
Job Shadowing & Professional Networking Class
Share your industry expertise and help a student research a prospective career! Through our two-credit Job Shadowing and Professional Networking class,
our Center will prepare students and connect you with a student who is interested in learning more about your industry. We will guide your student through
their initial, in-person meeting with you, and through five follow-up sessions that can be conducted in-person, via phone, or e-mail. By having the opportunity
to interview you, your student will develop her/his professional communication skills, and identify her/his skills and attributes needed for a future career.
If you are interested in participating or would like to learn more, please contact Kristina Szilak at (425) 564-2018.

Be a Guest Speaker
Another way that you can share your industry expertise and information about your organization with students
is to come as a guest speaker to a class or to one of our many campus events. Structure and time commitment
varies greatly between classes, but usually involves a one to two-hour time commitment for a brief formal or
informal presentation about what you do and time to answer great questions from students! If you are interested
in participating or would like to learn more, please contact Maren Schmidt, Soecialist at Center for Career Connections and Women’s Center,
(425) 564-3347 or mschmidt@bcc.ctc.edu.

Conduct Practice Interviews
A vital piece to our students' success in securing work in our community is the interview process.
To help students prepare, we provide short mock or practice interviews conducted by representatives
from local organizations. Practice interview structure varies and can be part of our two-credit Resume
& Interviewing Strategies class, a free workshop, or through other BCC programs and classes. If you
are interested in participating or would like to learn more, please contact Jane Foster at (425) 564-2476.

Offer Internships
www.bellevuecollege.edu/internships
Interns can be a dynamic and profitable addition to companies and organizations of all sizes.
Not only are most interns highly motivated and quick learners, but they can also bring new life
into a company in the form of fresh ideas and the latest trends in technology. In turn, students
benefit from the experiential learning opportunities provided by internships and mentoring, while
our programs and curriculum benefit from active collaboration and sponsorship from local business leaders.
We have developed an internship program designed to be flexible and responsive to the business community.
Internships through the BCC Academic Internship Program can be in many different fields, paid or unpaid,
begin at anytime during a quarter or the year, vary in length of time, (100 hours minimum), and provide
students with 2-5 variable academic credits. Please visit our Academic Internship Program website
at www.bellevuecollege.edu/internships to learn more.
