Nursing Assistant Certified

 

Current Courses:

  • NAC – currently a non-credit offering though Nursing Continuing Ed

 

We are working towards the creation of a Certificate of Completion.

A credit program will soon be available for Nursing Assistants – Certified. Program prepares students for the Washington state Nursing Assistant Certification Examination. Students learn in classroom settings, in the skills laboratory at BCC, and in instructor-supervised clinical practice in local hospitals and long term care facilities. Courses include:

 

  • HPRO 116: Nursing Assistant Foundations, 4 credits
  • HPRO 117: Basic Technical Skills, 1credits
  • HPRO 118: Nursing Assistant Clinical Practicum, 2 credits
  • Total: 7 credits

 

Course Descriptions

HPRO 116 Nursing Assistant Foundations – 4 credits

Presents anatomy and physiology, resident rights, concepts of death and dying, dementia care, legal aspects of care, scope of practice of the nursing assistant, function of the health care team, and communication skills for the role of the nursing assistant. Prerequisite: Acceptance into the program.

 

HPRO 117 Basic Technical Skills – 1 credit

Provides students with opportunities to learn and practice 22 client care skills in preparation for the Washington state certification examination as a nursing assistant. Prerequisite: Acceptance into the program.

 

HPRO 118 Nursing Assistant Clinical Practicum – 2 credits

Provides a total of 66 hours of supervised clinical instruction in both long term care and acute care settings. Prerequisite: Acceptance into the program.
