Intensive English / University Preparation Program

Tuition and fees/Payment Methods:

For the 2008-2009 academic year, one quarter tuition is $ 2,496. All students will also pay an additional $35 technology fee each quarter. This fee grants each student access to the computer laboratory on campus. If you plan to buy BCC contracted medical insurance, it will cost $192 each quarter. Our students pay approximately $2,723 per quarter.

All ESL students are expected to pay as soon as they register for our ESL classes. Students can pay directly at the Cashier's office in the Student Services building conveniently located near the ISP office by cash, personal check, money order, VISA or Master credit card, or traveler's check

Admission Requirements/Deadlines:

BCC has no deadlines. However, for overseas applicants, we recommend you apply at least 3 - 4 months before the quarter you wish to join. BCC accepts students every quarter: Fall (September), Winter (January), Spring (March), and Summer (June). You are welcome to apply to BCC as long as you have enough time to obtain a student visa in your home country and be able to arrive at the campus in order to begin classes by the first day of the quarter you are admitted.

Submit the following documents to the International Student Admissions office at BCC by mail or fax:

  1. Completed and signed application form;
  2. A $50 non-refundable application fee;
  3. Official bank statement with a minimum balance of $18,944 (add $5,000 for each dependent). Statement must be less than six (6) months old. If a student has a sponsor in the U.S., an I-134 form (Affidavit of Support) is required.
  4. The I-134 form can be downloaded from www.uscis.gov
  5. Official transcript in English from your previous school(s)
  6. Copy of passport;

Registration and Advising:

All new UP students are expected to take the BCC ESL Placement Test that include reading, writing, speaking, and listening on the first day of the quarter to determine at which level they should begin. Usually the tests take about 3 hours to complete.

The ISP advisors register all new and continuing UP students. Students are responsible to pay their tuition at the Cashier’s office immediately after registration. If you have any questions about your payment, class level, changes to your class schedules/level, medical insurance, etc., please come to the ISP office in B-233 on the main campus. Our office hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Our telephone number is 425-564-3185.
