POSITION: WAREHOUSE OPERATOR 2 (Class Code 117J), Ref. # 008042
12-MONTH, 100% POSITION
DEPARTMENT: WAREHOUSE DELIVERY SERVICES/CAMPUS OPERATIONS
SALARY: Range 32: $2,169 - $2,799 per month

JOB SUMMARY:
The Warehouse Operator 2 is a journey level position. A Warehouse Operator 2 will under general supervision perform warehouse functions out of a central location or smaller specialized facilities. Warehouse Operator 2 duties include receiving, recording, storing, issuing, ordering supplies, filling supply orders, pricing supply orders and delivering supply orders; tag equipment and process surplus for disposal; store and process materials for HazMat processing; and other materials/equipment as required. Positions may be required to operate material handling equipment to including forklifts, light trucks and delivery carts.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School graduation or GED Certificate.
- Physical ability to do required work; lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
- One year of experience or training involving warehouse operations or equivalent education/experience in a related field.
SPECIFIC POSITION REQUIREMENT:
(Applicant’s must possess the following in order to be considered for the position.)
- Applicant must posses a valid motor vehicle operator’s license or ability to obtain one upon employment.
- Must be able to satisfactorily complete a driver safety course administered by the college. A driver’s record check will be reviewed as part of this course.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to operate a fork lift.
- Possess a working knowledge of computer systems including E-mail, Word and Excel.
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable in a working environment that is subject to daily changes in priorities
CORE COMPETENCIES:
Candidates should possess and exhibit the following competencies:
Work in Warehouse: Willing to work in an area that has dust, cold temperatures, limited space and ability to work ten (10) feet in height.
Follow Instructions: Willing and able to follow written and/oral instructions.
Self Management and/or Teamwork: Must be able to work both individually and/or within group; willing to accept cross-training in other warehousing/mail functions and lend assistance as needed; willing to act as a mentor to new employees; and support teamwork through open and honest communication in a diverse working environment.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Receive, deliver, collect, process packages, equipment, surplus, furnishing, shredding, records and other items;
- Ability to operate pickup, panel and light trucks up to one-ton capacity;
- Deliveries and pickups may be on the main campus, satellite campuses or processing centers;
- Perform all functions associated with the operation of a campus stores program; including: filling orders, ordering products, stocking shelves, price calculations, entering data and conducting inventories. Other related duties may be required in support of the campus stores program;
- Operate office equipment such as computers, copier machines, telephone, calculators and data entry equipment;
- Participate in the unpacking of incoming items, check their condition, quantity and type against shipping documents. Note discrepancies on bills of lading and will follow through with the correction/reporting process;
- Conduct physical inventories; prepare and maintain perpetual inventory, records and correspondence files; keep other records as required;
- Answer inquiries from customers and resolve routine customer problems;
- Perform functions required in the tagging, recording and entry of equipment needing to be tagged to comply with OFM guidelines. Assist with annual inventories of equipment;
- Perform, under direction, redistribution or disposal of surplus or excess property in accordance with OFM guidelines;
- Assist in the receiving, storing, issuing, processing, record keeping and proper disposal of HAZMAT materials;
- Assist in the secure storing and destruction of college records; preparation of accounting documents for storage and destruction;
- Prepare materials for pickup or shipping as required;
- Perform operator maintenance on all equipment used by the warehouse;
- Perform duties involved in maintenance, arrangement and cleanliness of the warehouse/ worksite and its equipment.
Union shop provisions cover this position as the result of a majority vote by employees in the bargaining unit. All employees must either join the Washington Public Employee’s Association and pay regular union dues or pay a union representation fee on date of hire as required by the Dept. of Personnel, Higher Ed. Division rules.
