Scholar in Residence

We are pleased and honored to welcome our 6th annual international scholar,
Lucia Zuppa. Lucia, who is from San Luis, Argentina, holds a degree
in English instruction from Argentina's Instituto de Formación Docenta
Contínua and a diploma in teaching Spanish as a foreign language from
Asociación Argentina de Docentes de Español. She is a teacher of English
and Spanish in Argentina, and her residency is sponsored by the Fulbright
Foreign Language Teaching Assistant Program. (more...)
CLA Fellows Program

The Center for Liberal Arts is pleased to announce the continuation of the CLA Fellows Program. The CLA Fellows Program was established to recognize the importance and value of community civic scholars to teaching and learning at Bellevue Community College. Center for Liberal Arts Fellows serve as mentors and partners to aid the college in its mission to enhance faculty and student civic engagement. This work may take the form of occasional campus or community lectures, partnership in curriculum development, service learning contacts, representation of BCC and the Center for Liberal Arts in the community or other support for college initiatives relevant to the Fellow’s academic, professional and/or civic expertise. The Center for Liberal Arts and Voices in Wartime Education
Project invite you to join a conversation workshop about teaching the
subject of war. We are extending invitations to our colleagues at higher
education institutions in the area to join the dialogue. This is an
opportunity to exchange teaching ideas, share experiences, and learn

Stories of War and Peace
Radio station KBCS, in partnership with the Center
for Liberal Arts, will be broadcasting Stories of War and Peace, a collection
of stories of war and peace written by students and community members

Author's retelling of Vietnam War Ordeal to Highlighted Month-long 'War and Peace' Series
The horrifying experiences of American soldiers in Vietnam
came to life at Bellevue Community College May 16 when Tim O'Brien,
author of The Things They Carried, discussed the war novel and
his personal experiences in Vietnam. The free, public lecture followed
a public reception for O'Brien in BCC's Gallery Space, D-271, and included
a book signing after the lecture.
