NETSCAPE, SEARCH ENGINES AND EBSCOHOST- individual work
Double click on the Netscape icon. (Wait for the words, Document done on the bottom left of the screen.) At the top of the screen, locate the "Net Search" button and click on it.
You will notice buttons for several Search Engines: Alta Vista, Lycos, Excite, Yahoo and Infoseek among others. Start with Yahoo by clicking on it.
Type in the terms "Hamiltonian Circuits" (with quotes around the terms). Hit the return key. How many matches did you find?
Type in the terms Hamiltonian+Circuits (without quotes around the terms.) How many matches did you find?
Try another Search Engine: click on "Net Search" at the top of your screen.
List the Search Engine you selected:
Search for "Hamiltonian Circuits" with this search engine. How many matches did you find?
Search for Hamiltonian+Circuits with this search engine. How many matches did you find?
Locate Ebscohost on the BCC Library Media Center web site or click here: EBSCOHost
Try to find information about "critical paths."
List the search terms used:
How many matches did you find?
Refine your search using Boolean connectors: and, or, not
List your new search terms(s) and how many matches you found.
Delete the address in the location box and type in: http://archives.math.utk.edu
(An alternate site is http://www.yahoo.com/science/)
Find information about the mathematician and artist M.C. Esher.
Write a short paragraph about him using the information available from this web site.
List the steps you took to find your information
e.g. I opened ___________(address of web site).
I searched for ________________(terms).
Write a paragraph about the life and work of M.C. Esher.
