Chemistry

3-D Chem.com
This site shows 3-D models of chemical molecules, including prescription medicines. "This web site highlights areas of the chemical world and illustrates the structures behind the words. It also provides background information about the science of the chemicals.

American Chemical Society
Founded in 1876, the ACS "is a self-governed individual membership organization that consists of more than 163,000 members at all degree levels and in all fields of chemistry. The organization provides a broad range of opportunities for peer interaction and career development." Click on the "Educators and Students" link to find ACS educational sites.

Chemistry-Based Animations and Audio
"A collection of 'animations [that] support the teaching of concepts in chemistry in freshman through graduate level courses.' Concepts include chemiluminescence, electrophoresis, gas chromatography, spectroscopy, and more. From a professor at Sam Houston State University, Texas." (Information from lii.org)

Chemistry Functions
From Stanford University, this site helps students with chemical calculations such as molar conversions and balancing chemical equations. There is also an interactive Periodic Table and a list of useful links.

Helping you to Understand Chemistry
This site from an English chemistry instructor covers main topics such as atomic structure, inorganic, physical, and organic chemistry. The site provides short definitions and explanations of chemistry vocabulary, and is meant to supplement the information in a textbook. There are no pictures.

Internet Public Library: Chemistry
This Internet Public Library site provides annotated links to resources in the field of chemistry.

Visual Interpretation of the Table of Elements
"An innovative project interpreting the periodic table through 'images that explore and reflect upon the diversity of elements that comprise matter.' Each of the 109 elements is accompanied by a visual image, as well as a description and history (including origin of name). The site is supported by the Royal Society of Chemistry."
