Governance: Pluralism Structure and Descriptions
These committees provide oversight, direction, and counsel to the Office of Equity and Pluralism:
Pluralism Steering Committee (PSC)
The Pluralism Steering Committee provides leadership, oversight, and coordination for the college Pluralism initiatives by serving as a liaison between President’s Staff, the campus Pluralism committees, and the Diversity Caucus
Pluralism Community Advisory Board
The Community Pluralism Advisory Board provides knowledgeable advocacy for the affirmative development of under-represented groups at Bellevue Community College. It identifies successful strategies that result in increasing enrollment, retention, academic performance, and graduation rates of students from under-represented groups, across the socioeconomic spectrum and at all levels of educational attainment. The Board also assists the College in diversifying its workforce by focusing on new ways to increase recruitment, hiring, development, and advancement of faculty and staff from diverse populations.
Employee Pluralism Committee (EPC)
The Employee Pluralism Committee is a problem-solving group which advises the Vice President of Human Resources on diversity and pluralism issues, concerns, and suggestions that could impact employees
Student Pluralism Committee (SPC)
The Student Pluralism Committee provides advice and counsel to the Dean of Student Services. The Committee assists in the development of a work plan for recruitment and retention of students from diverse populations; addresses student issues related to pluralism and diversity; identifies and addresses disability issues; and builds college-community support for diversity and pluralism initiatives.
Instructional Pluralism Committee (IPC)
The Instructional Pluralism Committee identifies issues and formulates recommendations pertaining to diversity and pluralism in (1) instructional program and course content and delivery, (2) organization and governance, and (3) hiring and assignment of full- and part-time faculty. The IPC also develops and maintains a plan to promote diversity and pluralism within (a) the instructional curriculum and (b) the organizational units.
Diversity Caucus
The Diversity Caucus is an affinity group of faculty, administrators, staff, and students at Bellevue Community College, committed to the improvement of diversity and pluralism at the college. The Diversity Caucus provides advice and counsel to the college community through the Pluralism Steering Committee, by promoting internal community building, and by providing a structure for networking, mentoring, and supporting students, staff, faculty, and administrators from diverse populations. Membership is open to any member of the college community.
