Academic Service Learning at BCC promotes and helps facilitate service learning on our campuses.  We have many services available to faculty members, students and community organizations that use and engage in service learning.  These services include, but are not limited to,

  • Visiting community organizations to ensure they understand the goals of service learning and are given the opportunity to inform us of their needs
  • Assisting faculty with curriculum development and learning of best service learning practices
  • Counseling students when they are choosing service organizations or projects
  • Maintaining the service learning website and databases of community organizations
  • Providing orientations for service learning classes
  • Providing forms and maintaining student records
  • Organizing quarterly Community Connections Fairs
  • Providing SL readings to the BCC library and maintaining an annotated bibliography

The service learning staff is dedicated to providing a valuable experience for everyone involved in service learning at BCC or with BCC students.   Serve, Learn and Lead staff members are available to speak with anyone who has questions about service learning at BCC.
