All of these fields deal with aspects of the human situation, and they do so on both the individual and the collective levels in wide-ranging social and historical settings. Though tied together by common concern with humankind, each discipline includes its own particular perspectives, theories, and methods; and within each discipline there are diverse views as to how social science is best conducted.
