Narrator:

Bellevue Community College transforms lives. People from around the world and from all walks of life come to BCC to unlock their potential and take the steps that lead to success. At BCC, we help our students to become exceptional.

Franklin:

I needed to know more than just getting a degree, what did I want to do with my life. They put things in perspective for me. It was more than just getting an education, it was preparation to do more.

Narrator:

As the third largest institution of higher learning in Washington, BCC serves more than 35,000 students every year. Students like Shawn Stonebraker who recently retired after working for 15 years at Microsoft.

Shawn:

I wanted to stop working as a grocery checker. That’s what I was doing and in 1989 there was a grocery strike and I was out of work and I needed to start thinking about what I was going to do.

Narrator:

BCC offers students a wide and varied curriculum, providing the technical and professional skills that give them a competitive edge as they enter the workforce. At the same time, BCC is providing a skilled workforce that allows our region’s businesses to be competitive and providing jobs for our state. BCC made me a marketable employee, allowed me to change from a low-paying blue collar job to a high-paying, white-collar very interesting and challenging career and it has transformed about everything in my life.

At BCC, students have the opportunity to do things they never thought possible. To make their dreams come true. To make a difference in the world. To discover what’s exceptional about themselves. Ignace Hounwanou came to BCC from Togo in West Africa. He is working to earn a nursing degree at BCC and help people lead healthier lives.

Ignace:

The population of Togo is 5 million and there is only one doctor for 13,000 people. There are not any facilities or any healthcare system there so people just live like that and they die of very small things.

Narrator:

Ignace is just one student that hopes to make a difference. To make this happen, it takes an exceptional institution — one dedicated to providing students with high quality and flexible educational programs. BCC is that exceptional Organization — helping people realize their potential and preparing them to succeed in a changing world.

Amanda:

Sometimes I think where would I be right now if it weren’t for BCC and honestly I can say I don’t know. I definitely wouldn’t be in such good place that I am now.

Shawn:

BCC literally changed my life.
