Venture Program Admissions
Thank you for your interest in the Venture Program. Upon entering Venture, students typically demonstrate reading, writing and math skills ranging from fourth-grade level and above. In order to be sure that Venture is the best match for our applicants, we require the following information from each student:
- A Venture Application, to be completed by the applicant, and a $50 application fee.
- A completed Parent/Guardian Questionnaire.
- An official high school transcript and any postsecondary program records.
- An educational evaluation conducted within the past three years, including grade level equivalents, standard scores, and percentile rankings obtained from:
- Peabody Individual Achievement Test (PIAT) or
- Kaufman Test of Educational Achievement (KTEA); or
- Woodcock Johnson A or 3, achievement section; or
- Other tests that meet Washington State reliability as demonstrated by a reliability coefficient of .85 and normed on representative national samples.
The particular educational tests mentioned above are necessary to the Venture Program admissions procedure. Although we accept any additional information, please know that where test names are specified, we ask that you do not substitute other tests for those required. We suggest that a copy of this letter be given to all test administrators. In addition, evaluations should include measures of general intelligence, executive functioning, and information processing. Please see our web site for acceptable tests measuring intellectual ability, academic tests, non-verbal tests and processing tests.
- Two recommendations from persons who have known the applicant for six months or longer. Use only Venture Program Recommendation forms. At least one reference should be an educator (teacher, counselor, principal, etc.); another reference, if possible, an employer or work supervisor. Other reference possibilities include a therapist, social worker or DVR counselor.
- A personal interview with an advisor for both parents/guardians and applicant is required. The interview will be scheduled when all admissions materials have been received. We will contact you when the file is complete.
- Applicant must be 18 years or older.
All forms are available at the Venture Program web site, www.bellevuecollege.edu/venture. Questions? E-mail venture@bcc.ctc.edu or call (425) 564-2844. Send all admissions materials to:
